As any apprentice I’ve coached will testify, a mantra I often repeat is that no one is ever “just” an apprentice.

Using “just” diminishes their role and focuses on limitations rather than the vast potential they hold.

For example, ‘just a seed’ overlooks its potential to become a towering tree that provides shade and bears fruit.

Similarly, early talent is more than entry-level employees; they are future leaders and innovators. The seeds of our future, even.

In the broader picture, removing ‘just’ from our vocabulary is a shift in mindset. When we acknowledge the inherent potential in every individual, we foster an environment of growth, encouragement, and limitless possibilities.

By embracing this mindset, we can transform individual career paths and organizational culture.

Let’s retire “just” from our language.

After all, no one is just anything. We are all capable of extraordinary things.
